Bald Eagles lay first eggs before blizzard arrives
Bald eagles here in the Upper Mississippi are tough birds. Laying eggs in February, they are guaranteed to have snow as they incubate their eggs. Both parents take turn keeping the eggs warm. It is going to be a real challenge this week with 6+ inches of snow and high winds in the forecast for the region.
There are two good web cams of active nests. You can check in on the Iowa nest at the Explore.org web cam. And in Minnesota, the Department of Natural Resources has an eagle nest webcam where the first egg was laid on Feb 15th.
