Barred Owl in the Daytime

Although mostly nocturnal, it is not uncommon to see a Barred Owl hunting in the daylight.

In winter when food is scarce or now during the nesting season, a Barred Owl will often hunt in the daytime to supplement the nocturnal shifts.

The Owl’s hunting session was interrupted by the local deer herd.
