It is prime time to see migrating Caspian Terns here in Minnesota. The Caspian is the largest tern in the world and one of four regular terns to visit Minnesota - the others being the Black, Common and Forster’s Tern. They do not nest in Minnesota but are common spring and fall migrants throughout the state.
In this video of tonight’s sunset on the Upper Mississippi web cam, you can hear the Caspian’s raspy calls as they must have flown by just off camera.
