Creative nest building

Last week a Robin started building her nest on our copper downspout. This is not the first time this site has been used by a robin but this year’s nest has quite a creative assortment of leaf material including a fondness for hosta leaves.

With the nest complete, the female is now incubating eggs

Was planning on painting the house this spring but will have to wait a few weeks longer. Incubation period is about two weeks long and then another two weeks until fledging!
