House Wren
My resident house wren successfully fledged two different broods in two different nesting boxes this summer.
The first brood was in a traditional nest box designed for chickadees or wrens. Wrens arrive around May 5th here in Minnesota. This brood fledged at the end of June.
The male wren then starting singing incessantly again to attract a female to his new nesting location which happen to be a bird art mask hanging on my patio. He was successful in using this creative location to raise a second family which just fledged five days ago.
I took the owl mask down to see how the nest was constructed. In the nest cup, I found one unhatched wren egg!
