Looking to web cams
To provide some warmth to the northern winter blues
After a week of subfreezing weather in Minnesota, the Upper Mississippi River has had a hard freeze eliminating open water in many parts. No bird life on one of my favorite web cams near LaCrosse WI. Many of the bald eagles that frequent this area are away in search of open water but will be back soon.
If you are in search for some greenery and a touch of spring to boost the winter blues, here is a neat web cam - a hummingbird nest in CA.
These hummingbird web cams are great because they can be located so close the birds to show quite a bit of detail. It is just amazing to watch how the female raises and feeds the nestlings in such a tiny space.
If you are missing some of our northern icons, here is a screenshot of Canada Geese at a heated pond in Decorah IA. They are not far away from heading back north when the waters open.
